First Race of the Season

Three Bridge Fiasco Race is 26 January.  San Francisco Bay known for its strong summer winds often has very light winds n the winter.  The Bay is also known for its strong tidal currents. The tides are favorable for this race.  We start at slack water just before a flood tide.  The flood should help us get to Red Rock should the winds be light and fickle.  A storm could change generate strong wind which will change our tactics and type of sails we use.  We have a new large number 1 jib and a new small number 3 jib.  Over 300 boats enter this race.  Last year only half finished before the time limit due to unfavorable tides and light shifty wind.  We were one of the those did not finish.

I went to the boat Saturday and replaced the compasses and removed the depth finder.  I have sent the depth finder to Signet in Torrance for replacement. I also had the engine starting problem fixed by the yard.  We should be all ready for this race.  Let's hope we do not get caught in the same wind hole as last year.
